Summary of the work
Food poisoning caused by fresh vegetables is a problem in all over the world. The necessity of the implementation of appropriate hygiene measures at each stage, from farm to table is widely recognized.The justification for Dr. Inatsu's winning the award was his prominent research results on sterilizing technology for fresh vegetables in the "Production Process" Project commissioned by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. In addition, his collaborative investigation and research with researchers in South Asian countries are appreciated as improving hygienic condition in fresh produce farm .
