Open Day 2015 at Tsukuba Agriculture Research Hall

In line with Science & Technology Week 2015, we will hold Open Day at Tsukuba Agriculture Research Hall. The event is co-hosted by NARO Agricultural Research Center (NARO/ARC), NARO Institute of Crop Science (NICS) and NARO Institute of Vegetable and Tea Science (NIVTS). National Institute for Rural Engineering (NIRE), National Food Research Institute (Both only on 18th) and Fisheries Research Agency will also have their booth. We look forward to seeing you.

NARO Agricultural Research Center (NARO/ARC)

  • The mini presentations (starts from 11:00/ 12:00/ 13:30). 15-minute-presentation will focus on various agricultural topics.
  • Introduction and tasting of the new rice variety "Eminokizuna".
  • Panel presentation of the main research achievements of NARO/ARC.

NARO Institute of Crop Science (NICS)

  • Introduction and tasting of the new sweet potato varieties.

NARO Institute of Vegetable and Tea Science (NIVTS)

  • Panel presentations of research achievements mainly by NIVTS Tsukuba Vegetable Research Station
  • Tasting of vegetables grown in NARO Tsukuba Plant Factory
  • Free seedlings of eggplant "Anominori"
  • Tasting of green tea "Saemidori" (developed by NARO)
  • Free tea bag of new green tea variety (developed by NARO)

Office for promotion of Gender Equality, NARO

  • Let's play with quiz of NARO's mascot character "narorin".
  • Introduction of NARO's activities to achieve gender equality

Fisheries Research Agency (FRA)

  • FRA will introduce its activities and research achievements.
  • Fish Quiz
    Small present for those with high scores.
  • Giveaway of fish paper craft designed by FRA
  • ☆ Museum of Agricultural Technology Progress displays farming tools and machineries. Please enjoy the history of agricultural technology.
  • ☆ Outside of the facility, there is a display of agricultural machine and "wheat and barley sample field".
  • ☆ Panels describing activities and achievements of other Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries research institutes are also presented.

  • Free tea bag of new green tea variety (developed by NARO)

National Institute for Rural Engineering (NIRE)

  • Researcher from NIRE will introduce research achievements.
  • Making bookmark using rural flowers.

National Food Research Institute (NFRI)

  • Tasting of green tea made by tea supply machine that extract the health functional ingredients efficiently
  • Tasting of bread made of boiled rice

  • Take the Kanto Tetsudo bus for "Yatabe Shako", alight at "Norin Danchi Chuo".

  • Kanto Tetsudo Bus <Service suspended on 18th(Sat) > Take the bus for "Norin Danchi Junkan" and alight at "Norin Danchi Chuo"

  • Approx. 5 km from Yatabe Interchange
  • Approx. 4 km from Ken-O Expressway Tsukuba Ushiku Interchange

*Please follow the guidance of the traffic control staff in parking your car. Parking capacity is 100.

  • Coach parties will need to phone beforehand to book a parking space.
  • Free shuttle bus is available inside Norin Danchi area.
