Microbial genetic resources
The Microorganisms Section is in-charge of the conservation of a wide range of microorganisms important in agriculture and the food industry, such as fungi, bacteria, yeasts, viruses, bacteriophages, nematodes, and protozoas. Maintenance and distribution of these resources are performed by the center bank and 11 sub-banks mostly located in Tsukuba. The culture collections are designated with the MAFF accessions and are available for distribution in Japan and other countries.
