Our division covers metabolism and nutrition of livestock animals by physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, nutrition and genetics technique. We develop alternative feed utilization of new feed resources such as by-products of food industry and agricultural wastes, and product new brand pork, chicken meat and egg. We also study oxygen consumption, carbon dioxide and methane production of livestock by respiratory experiment facility. It enables accurate feed nutrient value and reduce green house gas emission by livestock animal. Ruminant microbiology and intermediate metabolism is our research theme. Best performance of rumen fermentation and hormonal regulation contribute stable livestock production system.Our research results will be published as Japanese Feeding Standards and Standard Tables of Feed Composition in Japan.
