Breeding Technology Unit

In order to control the fruiting defect due to climate change and to reduce the damage caused by pests, we perform genetic analysis of useful traits such as fruit bearing rate and disease resistance of solanaceous vegetables, development of accurate selection marker, identification of the responsible gene. Furthermore, in order to efficiently breed high quality / high yield varieties, we will develop next-generation breeding technology based on genome-wide DNA polymorphism information.
