19. Search for resistant gene against retrovirus infection in wild mice

Japanese

Murine leukemia virus is a member of retroviruses. Chromosomal DNA of South Asian wild mice, Mus musculus castaneus, contains multiple copies of a unique type of murine leukemia virus. Genetic and virological studies indicated that one of the chromosomal virus genes functions as resistant gene to infection by ecotropic murine leukemia virus and a few of them can produce infectious retroviruses.
