O-methyltransferase I, which catalyzes the reaction of demethylsterigmatocystin to sterigmatocystin during aflatoxin biosynthesis, was purified to apparent homogeneity. This enzyme was also found to catalyze the reaction of dihydrodemethylsterigmatocysin to dihydrosterigmatocystin.
