06. Detection of the intimin gene is useful for screening EHEC strains from cattle fecal samples

Japanese

Half of the bovine Escherichia coli (E. coli) strains with the intimin gene (eae) were classified into potential enterohemorragic E. coli (EHEC), since the strains were serotyped into several major O-serogroups of EHEC with public health importance. An eae gene was considered an important epidemiological marker for screening EHEC from cattle fecal samples. (Clinical Epidemiology Section, Department of Epidemiology TEL +81-298-38-7798)
