Division of Grassland Farming

People, do not be able to successfully digest to eat the grass, cattle are herbivores, eating grass and can be digested with the help of microorganisms in the stomach. In the grasslands, soil - grass - cow is said to resource recycling livestock. Grazing also have many advantages such as labor-saving, low-cost production, improved feed self-sufficiency rate, promotion of health of livestock, livestock welfare.
In recent years, from the lack of calf supply in accordance with the going out of business of petty beef cattle breeding farm that was aging, calf prices have increased sharply. Therefore, stable supply of the calf has become an urgent issue. On the other hand, in the intermediate and mountainous regions have been increasing rapidly abandoned farmland, take advantage of the disadvantaged areas, including the slope as possible farmland integration is said to extremely difficult. Grassland farming by grazing is considered to be able to solve both of these problems at the same time. Therefore, we develop the year-round grazing cow-calf production system for the effective use of abandoned farmland. Along with the lead to elimination of abandoned farmland, which system will lead to a stable calf supply.
In the Division of Grassland Farming, we develop year-round grazing system for effective cow-calf production system. We also evaluate the impact on the biodiversity of grasslands due to environmental change, and develop a global warming mitigation techniques, and develop the countermeasures for radioactive cesium contaminated grasslands.
