Ÿ@When can I take an admission examination?
The admission examination is annually conducted toward the end of August. Sometimes a second examination is conducted at the beginning of February if we do not meet our quota.

Ÿ@What do I have to do before taking an admission examination?
Before you file an application for admission, you should make arrangements with the instructors in@the@research field you want to join about the research you plan to perform in the latter three-year@doctoral program. First, please contact the executive office of the Doctoral Program.

Ÿ@Is there a special admission quota for adult students?
No. However, a student should not always be in his/her laboratory, depending on the research subject,@because you must take 3 credits to graduate, and they can be earned by taking an intensive@course. Before you apply, you can discuss the details with the instructors in the field you@want to join.

Ÿ@Does my former faculty or graduate school have any influences on the selection?
In principle, neither your old faculty nor your major in your Masterfs Program is concerned with the@selection for admission. Before you apply, you can discuss this with the instructors in the field you@want to join.

Ÿ@How much are tuition fees, and are there any scholarships?
Tuition fees and student scholarships are the same as those in the ordinary graduate schools of@Tsukuba University.

Ÿ@Where can I take each lecture?
At NARO (located in Tsukuba City). You can take lectures at the research center to which your tutor@belongs.

Ÿ@Can I get a room in the dormitory of Tsukuba University?
Yes, but it is not likely that you will get a room, because only a few rooms are allocated for use by@graduate school students.

Ÿ@What are the career opportunities for students after graduation?
Although there are as yet no Masterfs degree holders because the Doctoral Program has just started,@we expect that job opportunities for our graduates will not differ significantly from those for@graduates of ordinary graduate schools.

Ÿ@Can I take lectures in another faculty or graduate school at Tsukuba University?
You can do it under certain conditions.

Ÿ@What degree can I earn when I finish the Program?
A PhD degree (Doctor of Science in Agriculture).

Ÿ@Is there any rental accommodation, such as apartments, near the research institutes?
Yes, there are. The average rent is lower than that near the campus of Tsukuba University because@NARO is located further from the center of Tsukuba City.

Ÿ@Is it true that life in Tsukuba City will be very inconvenient if I have no car?
It depends on where you live. You can get groceries or essential services near NARO (you can get@to@the downtown area by bicycle). Of course, itfs more convenient to have a car, but many people@use only public transport or bicycles to commute.
