About Science Camp

This program is sponsored by the Japan Science and Technology Agency for promotion of science education by enhancing the enthusiasm of high school students in science and technology. The NIAS participates in the Science Camp Program during the summer vacation of students.

◆ NIAS Science Camp Program

  • The Summer Science Camp is a hands-on learning program that allows high school as well as vocational and technical school students with interest in science and technology to gain experience in actual research work in various research organizations all over Japan. During the program, the student participants will have a unique opportunity to receive practical instruction from researchers and scientists from institutes in the front line of science. This program is administered by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST).
  • The National Institute of Agrobiological Sciences (NIAS) hold programs focusing on biotechnology as part of the summer science camp with the aim of deepening interest in life science research for agricultural productivity.
  • ◆ How to join the Science Camp

  • Eligibility: The program is open to students enrolled in a Japanese high school or secondary level institution at the time of the deadline or students currently enrolled in vocational and technical schools (Years 1-3).
  • Application Method: Application forms are available at the JST Center for Promotion of Science Education (http://www.jst.go.jp/cpse/sciencecamp/). Fill in the application form (Japanese only) and return by post in time for the application to be received by the application deadline.
