Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the 3rd International Symposium of Environmental Physiology of Ectotherms and Plants (ISEPEP3) to be held in Tsukuba on August 24-28, 2009.
Tsukuba is located about 50 km north east of Tokyo and 40 km north west of Tokyo/Narita airport, providing easy access from abroad and for extending your domestic trip after or before ISEPEP3. There are numerous spots where you can see very rich nature and unique culture inside Japan. ISEPE3 organizing staff will try to provide such information and opportunity for participants to enjoy the stay here fully both from scientific and personal points of view. We are looking forward to your access to our ISEPEP3 home page from time to time and of course to your visiting Tsukuba in 2009.

About ISEPEP
ISEPEP arose by the amalgamation of two previous series of meetings: the International Symposium on the Cold Hardiness of Animals and Plants and the European Workshop on Invertebrate Ecophysiology. The idea was to cover the environmental physiology of invertebrates, plants and vertebrate ectotherms (fish, amphibians, reptiles). ISEPEP1 was held at the University of Roskilde, Denmark in 2005 and attracted 90 participants from 14 countries. ISEPEP2 was held in Dunedin, New Zealand.
ISEPEP is the only meeting focused on the environmental physiology of these groups and has the potential to attract an interesting and cohesive group of researchers who work in these areas.

This is the 3rd announcement for ISEPEP3 (The 3rd International Symposium on the Environmental Physiology of Ectotherms and Plants), which will be held next August 24-28 in Tsukuba, Japan.

to verify if your paper was accepted as an oral or poster presentation (abstract section, click on "accepted" to see the details). Be aware that the schedule of your presentation is still provisional and that the definitive schedule will appear only on the proceedings of the symposium, which will be distributed at the registration desk on site.
ISEPEP3 is offering several awards for student presenters.
Best Poster Presentation Award: This award recognizes the best poster presentation by a student.
Best Oral Presentation Award: This award recognizes excellence in the oral presentation of research by a student.
Concerning the meals and conference dinner, we hope you will enjoy both Japanese and western style cuisine in Tsukuba. Participants having special food request (vegetarians, religious restrictions) should contact the organizing committee: isepep3@nias.affrc.go.jp as soon as possible for smoother adaptation of the menus.
There are numerous restaurants around the meeting place for your dinner.
They will serve you a good dinner set menu from 1,000 to 1,500JPY (equiv. from 10 to 15 US$).
As working hours of banks in Japan is limited to 9:00 to 16:00 (weekdays only) and not all shops accept credit cards we advice to exchange money before coming to Japan or in Narita airport upon arrival.
We do plan "on site tours" during and after the symposium for you and accompanying persons: bus tours in Tokyo, etc.

We will hoist national flags of participants at the entrance to welcome you. This could be a good sign for you.
The weather here in Tsukuba will be still very hot and humid during symposium, so that you will be able to listen to cicadas' chorus. We wish you a safe journey to Tsukuba!
