Taxonomic description
  This species was considered as B type of Bemissia tabaci, and its population on poinsettia was separated from B. tabaci in 1990.
Expansion of distribution area
  At first, this insect was restricted on poinsettia in houses. However, it started to infect vegetables and other flowers since 1995. At present, this pest has spread to all over Taiwan, with higher population in central and southern Taiwan.
Environmental impact
  This pest is the vector of several viral diseases and makes it more important.
Economic damage
  Host plants discovered in Taiwan: 25 species in 17 families including Gossypium herbaceum, Solanum tuberosum, S. melongena, S. lycopersicum, S. nigrum, Brassica oleracea var. capitata, B. botrytis, B. campestris, B. juncea, B. albograbra, B. rapa, Lactuca sativa, Cucurbita pepo, Cucumis melo, C. sativus, Cirullus vulgaris, Raphanus sativus, Amaranthus tricolor, Capsicum annuum, C. frutescens, Nicotiana tabacum, Phaseolus vulgaris, P. radiatus, P.limensis, Vigna unguiculata, Glycine max, Onobrychis viciaefolia, Arachis hypogaea, Pisum sativum, Ipomoea batatas, Luffa aegyptiaca, Momordica charantia, Sechium edule, Benincasa hispida, Euphorbia pulcherrima, Gerbera jasmesonii, Dendranthema mrifolium, Dianthus chinensis, Rosa rugosa, Gentiana puberulenta, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Lilium brownii, Pharbitis nil, Chaenomeles speciosa, Persea americana, Psidium guajava, and Chenopodium album.

  Control of this pest is difficult, since insecticide-resistance population was easily generated.
